My 00:06:31 of Fame
Last Thursday, I was interviewed on Report on Business Television (Canadian TV) about Google, following a feature I wrote for InformationWeek about Google's IT. (The segment aired on Friday, Sept. 1...scroll down to 5:20pm EST, Taking Stock with Amanda Lang, Google Revealed.)
The interview seemed to go fine. I only seem marginally wooden. I sat in the CNN studio in San Francisco and stared at a camera while answering questions from the host in Toronto (a correspondent named Lisa Oakwell, who was presumably filling in for Amanda Lang). I can't say I found the experience pleasant. I kept worrying that I might experience the spontaneous onset of Tourette's Syndrome.
Interestingly, the video segment file contains more material than it actually plays when you click on the official link. If you enter the URL where the video file actually resides, you get a longer version of the interview that includes material recorded prior to the show going on air. In the case of the Google interview, you hear some inconsequential banter between the host and me just before we go live (to tape). It makes me wonder what's hidden on some of the other segments.
