The Great Steak Escape, Part II
The cow uprising continues. In January, a Great Falls, Montana cow named Molly B. tried to escape the slaughterhouse. Her rebellion paid off and she was spared.
Now comes news that a cow headed for a slaughterhouse in Japan broke free on Sunday. Nearly two dozen police pursued the renegade animal on a 3.7-mile car chase through the town of Yakkaichi. One man was knocked unconscious and sent to the hopital. The Associated Press tells of a "frenzied 1,606-pound animal...hotly pursued by a stream of patrol cars."
That's 6,424 Quarter Pounders ®, more or less.
Following a desperate assault on a rendering plant worker, who probably didn't have the animal's best interests at heart, the 3-year-old cow reportedly died after crashing into a metal fence. Services will be held at participating restaurants.
