Nipplegate Fallout

The fallout from Nipplegate, as Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction has come to be known, continues.

On Wednesday, the FCC denied CBS’ request for reconsideration of the Commission’s decision to impose a fine for the broadcast of indecent material during the February 1, 2004 Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show.

The ripples of the FCC's aggressive effort to keep sex off our violent airwaves have even reached the Internet.

Six Apart, makers of the software that runs that runs this site and the owner of the LiveJournal hosted blogging service has reportedly threatened to suspend the account of a user who displayed an image of artwork depicting a breastfeeding Madonna and Child. Evidently, choosing a default icon that presents a visible nipple and areola represents a Terms of Service violation.
