Movable Type Vs. WordPress

I've begun to have doubts about Movable Type. And judging by Google Trends, I'm rather behind the curve in my apostacy. WordPress certainly seems to be gaining mindshare faster than Movable Type.
I still think Movable Type is a capable, flexible content management system, but it's recently become terribly slow. Posts now take several minutes to process once submitted. This may be the result of changes I've made to the default templates or plug-ins I'm using. Still, Movable Type ought to be able to handle customization.
Perhaps WordPress isn't any better. But the popularity of "WordPress" as a search term makes me wonder. Really, I suppose I'm just annoyed that software that's supposed to make publishing easier is so finicky. Maybe the next upgrade will make ameliorate the situation, not to mention end poverty, cure disease, and extend the human lifespan. Hope springs eternal. Either that or there's a sucker born every minute.
