Ads for Sheep

Earlier this month, Hotels.nl, an online reservations site based in the Netherlands, began putting ads on sheep, a practice akin to putting Nike logos on jocks.
Locals aren't pleased. Over the weekend, the town of Skarsterlan started fining Hotels.nl 1,000 euros a day for violating the town's ban on advertising along the highways. Said town mayor Bert Kuiper, "If we start with sheep, then next it's the cows and horses."
Indeed, with the strategy generating a 15 percent increase in sales and a rise in website visits, CEO Miechel Nagel is unapologetic. He says he will increase the number of ads on sheep and is looking for pastures near frequent traffic jams where sheep will be visible to motorists for longer periods of time.
"As a company in modern times, you have to take some risks," Mr. Nagel said. "You cannot be everybody's friend."
Lamb chops, anyone?
