Humans Are Evolving, Scientists Insist
Researchers have discovered roughly 700 parts of the human genome where genes appear to have been altered by natural selection. This demonstrates either that humans are still evolving or that some belligerent designer is toying with us. If recent events in the scientific community of South Korea are indicative of trend, it's also possible this finding is simply a hoax.
But a closer look at some recent adaptations suggests that we really are evolving. Reports of chafe-resistant skin among North Americans indicate that some of us are becoming better suited for prolonged periods of seated TV viewing. A growing number of children are being born with extremely long fingers, an adaptation that makes it easier to hold super-sized soft drink cups. Then there's the increasing number of adults who appear to have lost the ability to question authority, a trait that ceased being useful around the 11th of September, 2001.
In all, a slam-dunk case for evolution.
