Glide Delayed

TransMedia's planned release of Glide Effortless, a suite of 12 hosted media sharing applications has been delayed until November 30th.

According to CEO Donald Leka, stories about the company -- mainly one I wrote two weeks ago -- have spurred greater than expected interest in the company's online service. To accommodate anticipated demand, TransMedia is bringing more servers online to deliver more bandwidth and to increase the amount of storage available to users.

Skeptics might fairly point out that the delay confirms the suspicions some have voiced on Slashdot that Glide is vaporware. Indeed, the software promises so much that it's hard to believe such a beast exists. But having met with, called, and corresponded with Leka at length (and having seen the software running in a demo), I'm still confident TransMedia has something with a lot of potential on its hands. And I'm not just saying that because I received an unsolicited t-shirt and a hat from the company in the mail today.

Leka doesn't expect any further delays and suggests mainstream press recognition may be forthcoming. Sure, he could be making that up. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

If I'm wrong, at least I have the consolation of knowing there's a place for me counting weapons of mass destruction at the CIA.
