Elect a Pope Dot Com
The election of the Pope is an event closely watched not only by Catholics, but also by people of all faiths. Political leaders, too, are avid followers of the process, especially those of the one hundred and sixty countries who maintain diplomatic relations with the Holy See.The Catholic Church is not a democracy. It is ruled by one supreme ruler, the Holy Father, the Vicar of Rome. He is elected by the eligible members of the College of Cardinals. Presently there are 128 Cardinals eligible to vote for the next Pope. They come from sixty different countries, and are the spiritual representatives of approximately nine hundred and seventy six million Roman Catholics.
With so few having a voice that effects so many, I invite you to explore this process; to give us your thoughts and feelings about this process; and to share your vote for the next spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Church with the world.
